What is your favorite flower? Although we all have our opinion, there is no denying the allure of the rose. Adored for thousands of years, revered by royalty, and representative of true love - the rose has long held a coveted position as the queen of the flowers. June is National Rose Month, the perfect time for those of us who love this iconic flower to fill our homes with the gorgeous bloom, or send a few bouquets to people we love. And in the summertime, Julia's Florist has the vivid pinks, oranges and yellows that will brighten every celebration - or simply bring beauty to your living room!

After witnessing a tragic World War I battle, a soldier named John McCrae wrote a poem which lamented the tragedy of the hundreds of lives which were lost. "In Flanders Fields" would associate the red poppy with those who die on the battlefield - a tradition and legacy which remains to this day.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow between the crosses,
row on row.
The torch; be yours to hold it high,
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow in Flanders fields.
While live poppies are seldom used to commemorate Memorial Day, Julia's Florist offers beautiful patriotic floral flowers and Memorial Day arrangements which will express the respect and pride we hold in our hearts for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. May 6 and May 9 have something in common. They are both set aside to honor some very special people here in the Wilmington community - nurses and teachers, respectively. The members of both of these professions work tirelessly for the benefit of other people, yet receive very little by way of thanks or recognition. Julia's Florist would like to partner with you this month to change that - and to send gorgeous floral designs to thank teachers and nurses for everything they do for others.
By the Numbers: The last time a count was done, incredibly, both teachers and nurses saw their nationwide membership at about 3.1 million. Read More about Floral Designs to Thank Teachers & Nurses »
